I was thinking it looks a bit older than stuff in the US. I bet the first church has an arch ceiling and the second does not.

correct, those are the oldest buildings in the area, there’s some ruins of a Norman era castle a few miles out in Bramber but again similarly aged.
Shit’s got a 30ft deep moat.
